Safe Opening & Safe Locks

Many Safe Lockouts Are Simple

A surprising number of “locked” safes have a simple cause. Electronic keypads often fail because of a dead battery, and many have an external battery connection or override key. A combination may have been changed and written down wrong. A key may be available by code from the manufacturer. We start with the simplest explanation.

When a safe genuinely has to be opened, we use the least damaging method suited to that safe. For many residential and small-business safes, that means the safe can be repaired and reused afterwards with a new lock.

Before opening any safe, we verify that it belongs to you or that you have the right to access it — for example, as executor of an estate.

How It Works

Getting Back Into Your Safe

Least-damage methods first.

1

Tell Us About the Safe

Brand, type of lock (dial, keypad or key) and what happened. Photos help.

2

Open the Safe

We try non-destructive methods first; the method depends on the safe and lock.

3

Reset or Replace the Lock

New combination, new keypad or new lock, so you’re back in control.

Have a Question?

Safe Opening & Safe Locks FAQ

Can you open my safe without destroying it?

Often, yes. Many safes can be opened and the lock serviced or replaced so the safe can be used again. It depends on the safe and the lock.

My safe’s keypad is dead — can you help?

Yes. It is often a battery or keypad fault. We diagnose it and replace the keypad or lock if needed.

Can you change my safe’s combination?

Yes, on most safes with a working lock, and we can also replace mechanical dials with keypads.

Do you open gun safes?

We open many residential gun safes. Tell us the brand and model so we can advise before we come out.

What proof do I need?

Proof that the safe is yours or that you have the legal right to open it, such as ID at the property or estate paperwork.

How much does safe opening cost?
